New Delhi: BJP MLA Anil Sharma announced on Thursday that he will advocate for renaming Mohammadpur village in the RK Puram constituency to Madhavpuram. He mentioned that while the municipal corporation had previously approved the proposal, it has been pending in the Assembly for some time and is now poised to be addressed again.

In an interview, Sharma stated, “The corporation had passed the proposal to rename Mohammadpur village a while ago, but it has been stuck in the Assembly. Under the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, it seems to have been overlooked. I will bring this issue up as soon as I have the opportunity to speak with the respected speaker.”

When asked about the rationale behind the name change, he explained, “The residents are requesting that this village be renamed Madhavpuram. This government represents the people, and we will act according to their wishes.”

Sharma emphasized his commitment to pursuing the name change and indicated that he would present the proposal as soon as he is allowed to do so, saying, “We will strive to submit the proposal. If the speaker permits me to speak tomorrow, I will do it then; otherwise, I will present it on Monday.”

Additionally, MLA Anil Sharma highlighted the urgent water and sewage issues in RK Puram, noting, “Throughout RK Puram, the problems related to water supply and sewage are significant. Many villages in the constituency are facing severe conditions, with sewage flowing continuously.”

He urged the government to take immediate action to address the residents’ pressing concerns.
