Hoshiarpur: Police in Hoshiarpur have said that a youth has been injured in an exchange of fire between occupants of an XUV vehicle and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) near Tootomajara village on Chandigarh Road on Thursday evening.
Officials from the police said that the injured youth was admitted to Civil Hospital Mahilpur, while police arrested four individuals, including him.
In a statement police said that the incident occurred when police attempted to stop the XUV (registration number PB 10 HU 8453) coming from Hoshiarpur, which was being pursued by an intelligence department team.
The occupants of the vehicle allegedly opened fire on the police and attempted to flee. In response, the police fired back, puncturing the vehicle’s tires.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle at Tootomajara bus stand and attempted to escape into the village. A police team, led by SP D Hoshiarpur Sarabjit Singh Bahia, reached the scene and successfully apprehended all four individuals. One of the arrested youths, who sustained an ear injury, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
