Chandigarh: The Punjab government is now in action mode against drug abuse. Bulldozer action is going on on the properties of drug smugglers. At the same time, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, a tremendous strategy has been made in Chandigarh today (28 February) to deal with this problem. Punjab will be made drug free in 3 months. Drug smugglers and their families will never get subsidy in government schemes.
After the meeting, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, in a press conference, warned the drug smugglers to either leave Punjab or give up the drug trade.
He also told the families of the smugglers to get them out of this path for the betterment of their children and society. Just like the previous governments have taken action to make drugs reach every home of the people, the government has decided to stop it. He also launched a scathing verbal attack on the former Akali BJP and Congress governments.
He held the Akali BJP government responsible for drug menace in Punjab. When Jagdish Bhola was caught in a drug smuggling case, it is not hidden from anyone which leaders he named. At the same time, he said that our government has been eliminating drug menace for the last three years. He gave his performance report by comparing the government with the Congress. However, CM Bhagwant Mann was not present in the press conference.
Now drug smuggling hot spots will be identified
In the meeting, the CM has instructed the Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner and SSP to work in coordination. At the same time, police officers have been asked to identify drug hotspots. Clear instructions were given to break the drug supply chain and take action against drug smugglers. They have been asked to seize and demolish the illegal properties of drug smugglers. At the same time, anti-drug campaigns will now begin at the district level. Deputy Commissioners have been asked to turn the war against drugs into a mass movement. However, the meeting is still going on.
6500 big drug smugglers arrested, 30 thousand FIRs registered
Arora said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was formed three years ago. In the last three years, a big silent campaign was going on against drugs. The facts of that campaign speak for themselves. In three years, 6500 big drug smugglers have been caught. 30 thousand NDPS cases have been registered. At the same time, 10 thousand police personnel have been transferred after the role of the drug smugglers came to light. Anti-narcotics force has been formed.
Smugglers’ property worth Rs 612 crore seized
In the last three years, property worth Rs. 612 crore of smugglers has been confiscated. During the Congress government, property worth Rs. 142 crore was confiscated. 100 employees have been arrested. 45 thousand petty drug peddlers have been arrested. The speed of heroin seizure has increased 600 times. 1128 kg of heroin has been seized. During the Congress government, 379 kg was seized. The rate of conviction of culprits in NDPS cases in Punjab has been 86 percent.
