Hoshiarpur: Efforts to persuade Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami have intensified. Today, on Friday, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib himself reached his residence to persuade Harjinder Singh Dhami. Where a long conversation went on for about 2 hours. Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh of Sri Kesgarh Sahib was also with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh.
When SGPC President Advocate Dhami reached his residence in Hoshiarpur, he welcomed Giani Raghbir Singh and Giani Sultan Singh by hugging them. After this, everyone had a closed door discussion for about two hours. It is clear that efforts to persuade Advocate Dhami are intensifying. Recently, the interim committee of SGPC had also refused to accept the resignation of President Dhami.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Giani Raghbir Singh said that Pradhan Dhami is a good and clean image Gursikh and the religion needs him. Therefore, he should withdraw his resignation.
Appeal was made to Pradhan Dhami 6 days ago also
About 6 days ago, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh had appealed to Pradhan Dhami to take back his resignation. Then Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh had said that this whole aspect is saddening. This should not have happened. We should look at it with restraint. Pradhan Dhami’s resignation is saddening. In his resignation, he has written, I accept the post that was put up by me on moral grounds and I resign.
If he is moral then it is also moral that he should take back his resignation from the post of SGPC chief. He should take up the duty which was assigned to him by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on 2 December. There was a lot of pressure due to the events that happened in the past few days. It is possible that he too is under pressure.
Pradhan Dhami resigned on 17 February
SGPC chief advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami suddenly called a PC on February 17 and resigned from the post. Before resigning, Dhami had said that he is saddened by the objection raised by Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the removal of Giani Harpreet Singh. The objection shows that he is being considered the reason for the removal of Harpreet Singh from the post. That is why he is resigning. Dhami has submitted his resignation to the executive committee. Now the committee has to take a decision on this.
