Jalandhar: An electric pole broke and fell on a school bus full of school children near Ballan village in Jalandhar. It was a matter of luck that the current in the pole did not reach the bus, otherwise a big accident could have happened. Although there was current in the electric pole at the time of the accident, the power supply of the entire village was cut off, which was restored after four hours.
According to the information received, when the school bus reached Ballan village to take the children home after school was over at 3:30 in the afternoon, due to the negligence of the driver, the bus collided with an electric pole on the roadside. Due to which the electric pole fell on the school bus. People gathered at the spot immediately took the children out of the bus.
Powercom employees arrived and cut off the electricity
According to people living nearby, the pole had electricity and the electricity department officials were informed, but even after four hours, no official of the electricity department reached the spot. There was a gutter cover on one side of the road, which broke and fell due to the passing of vehicles.
To prevent the bus from getting damaged, the driver tried to move the bus to the side, but the bus collided with a pole. The pole broke in the middle and fell on the bus. However, later the electricity workers reached there and cut off the power. The broken wires were removed from the pole and traffic could be restored.
