Preparations for Gurugram civic elections complete

All preparations have been completed by the district administration for the voting to be held on Sunday under the civic elections in Gurugram.

Gurugram: All preparations have been completed by the district administration for the voting to be held on Sunday under the civic elections in Gurugram. On Saturday, the respective area-wise returning officers will send polling parties with material to 1109 polling stations.

District Election Officer and DC Ajay Kumar gave necessary guidelines to ROs and other administrative officers of all five body areas regarding final training of polling parties related to the election process, EVM distribution and traffic arrangements at polling stations, sector officers, sector police officers, reserve polling parties as well as preparations for mock poll.

He said that the arrangement of buses should be ensured by coordinating with the RTA department. To avoid any kind of chaos, the name of the concerned ward and the name of the polling station must be pasted on all the buses. All information should be given during the training and election material distribution program on March 1.

Important information related to counting of votes

Mock poll will be held at 7 am

– Voting will take place from 8 am to 6 pm

– Two EVMs will be available at all booths

– Vote for Mayor in one EVM and Councillor in the other

Bring your voter ID card or photo ID with you

– Only those whose names are registered in the voter list can cast their vote

There will be a ban on carrying mobile phones

The District Election Officer clarified that no voter will be allowed to carry a mobile phone inside the polling booth. If any person is found violating the above orders, legal action will be taken against him under the rules laid down by the State Election Commission.

Various efforts are being made by the district administration to ensure that no voter faces any inconvenience during voting. Elderly people and other voters who come to vote and need help to walk will be assisted by volunteers.

Voters who do not have voter cards can cast their vote by showing passport, driving license, PAN card, service identity card issued to employees by central and state government offices, public sector undertakings, local bodies or other public sector undertakings, photo identity card issued by bank or post office, freedom fighter photo identity card, SC, ST, OBC certificate with photo issued by competent authority, physical disability certificate with photo issued by competent authority, arms license with photo, MNREGA card, property documents with photo, pension documents like ex-servicemen, pension book, pension payment order, ex-widow dependent certificate, old age pension order, widow pension order with photo, health insurance scheme smart card with photo, ration card, Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI.

Liquor shops will remain closed for three days

As part of the civic body election process, all liquor shops, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other establishments selling or serving liquor within a radius of three kilometres will not be allowed to sell liquor on Saturday, March 1, polling day i.e. March 2 and counting day i.e. March 12. In this regard, orders have been issued by the Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Haryana under the provisions of Rule 37(10) of the Haryana Liquor Licence Rules, 1970.
