New Delhi: Two individuals were arrested for attempting to derail the Doon Express on the Lucknow-Bareilly railway line in Hardoi on Saturday. The suspects placed an iron net and stones on the tracks near the Pihani Road Overbridge in an effort to cause the derailment. Thankfully, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Kotwali Dehat Police were alerted in time and intervened to prevent a disaster.

Forensic teams were called to gather evidence, and during the investigation, the two suspects were apprehended at the scene. While the railway track and the engine sustained some damage, the train was stopped for over 30 minutes before continuing its journey. The detained suspects, both minors, were handed over to the RPF after the loco pilot inspected the track and engine.

Following the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (East) N Kumar and forensic experts arrived to investigate further. At 7:45 a.m., the RPF was notified after the loco pilot spotted an iron object on the track, which struck the train’s wheels, prompting immediate action. RPF officials found several damaged areas along the track, especially between kilometre markers 1177/08 and 1177/12, and discovered a broken steel bolt nearby. The matter was reported to SSC PWI Hardoi, Safaq Khan, for technical evaluation.

The incident has raised concerns about the increasing attacks on railway infrastructure, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation.
