Apart from this, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Dilbagh Singh Gill has been placed under house arrest.

Punjab Police on Tuesday took action against farmers ahead of the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) protest in Chandigarh on March 5. Many farmer leaders including farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal have been detained. Apart from this, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Dilbagh Singh Gill has been placed under house arrest.

According to sources, the police also reached the house of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) president Joginder Ugrahan in Sangrur, but he was not present at home. SKM has called an emergency meeting in Ludhiana at 11 am regarding action against the farmers.

On Monday, SKM leaders had a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh. During this, Bhagwant Mann and the farmers got into an argument. After this, reportedly CM Bhagwant Mann left the meeting.

Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said that only half of the memorandum was discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that he has an infection in his eye, he has an appointment with the doctor, due to which he will have to go. He asked the farmers what they were going to do on the 5th? The farmers put forth their side in the meeting. After this he left the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that even though it is the democratic right of the farmers to protest, they should also think that the state is suffering huge losses due to this. Traders and industrialists are expressing grief that their businesses are being destroyed due to frequent road and rail blockades.

The state government has always stood with the farmers, but all their demands are related to the central government. Punjab and Punjabis are facing difficulties due to the continuous protests of farmer unions.

The farmers’ protest continues at Shambhu and Khanauri border of Punjab-Haryana. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast unto death entered the 99th day today on Tuesday. On completion of 100 days of his fast, 101 farmers will sit on a one-day hunger strike at Khanauri border on March 5.
