Punjab to Launch ‘Hifazat’ project for safety of women: promises help within 10 minutes

The Punjab government is going to launch a new project for the safety of women. It has been named Hifazat. The government will launch this project today (March 6).

Chandigarh: The Punjab government is going to launch a new project for the safety of women. It has been named Hifazat. The government will launch this project today (March 6). Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur will launch it in Chandigarh.

The purpose of bringing this project is to provide immediate help to women suffering from any kind of violence. One Stop Centers already established at the block level will help in this. Apart from this, rescue operations will be monitored through ‘Sakhi Web Portal’.

Women can register a complaint at any time in times of trouble by dialling 181 helpline, from where they will be provided necessary assistance.

Help will be available in ten minutes .

It has been claimed that after the launch of Hifazat project, any woman will get help within 10 minutes. If any kind of violence happens with a woman anywhere in Punjab, she can immediately inform by dialling 181. It has been claimed that this is the first project of its kind in the country. The responsibility of solving the problems of women will be of the Social Security Women and Child Department. For this, the Protection Officer of the department will also be given the facility of a vehicle.

4300 women are becoming victims of violence in Punjab in a year

In 2024, 4309 cases of violence against women were reported in Punjab. Most of the problems are coming in the border areas. These figures are only of the One Stop Center. Many women do not raise their voice against the violence happening with them. Many women do not even know where to complain.
