Lawyers’ Raj Bhavan march in Shimla: Protest against Advocate Amendment Bill

Lawyers say that this black law will create many problems for the lawyers. In view of this, the advocates demanded the withdrawal of this amendment bill.

In protest against the proposed Advocate Amendment Bill 2025 of the Union Law Ministry in Himachal, Shimla lawyers today took out a march to the Raj Bhavan and demanded the withdrawal of the Advocate Amendment Bill. Himachal advocates have been boycotting work in all courts for two days. Due to this, court work has also been affected. This has also caused trouble to the common people.

Former Advocate General Shravan Dogra said that this is an attack on the freedom and autonomy of advocates. He said that we have understood your intention. You want to weaken this institution. Dogra said that if the lawyers are unable to fight for themselves today, then how will they fight for other sections of the society if there is injustice done to them.

The Coordination Committee of Himachal had called for boycott of the work of the courts on March 5 and 6. Today again in the meeting of the Coordination Committee, the future strategy of the movement will be made. The lawyers say that the Central Government wants to send three representatives to the Bar Council of India. This will end the autonomy of the Bar Council. There is a possibility of increased government interference.
