New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a two-day visit to the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, as well as Gujarat, on Friday, March 7. During his visit, he will inaugurate several development projects.
The Prime Minister’s trip will begin in Silvassa, where he will launch Phase I of the NAMO Hospital at around 2 p.m. This 450-bed hospital, which cost over Rs 460 crore to build, will provide state-of-the-art healthcare, especially benefiting the region’s tribal communities. Following this, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects in Silvassa, valued at over Rs 2,580 crore. These projects include infrastructure improvements such as roads, schools, health centers, administrative buildings, water supply systems, and Anganwadi centers, all aimed at enhancing connectivity, promoting industrial growth, boosting tourism, creating job opportunities, and improving public welfare in the region.
Later, in Surat at around 5 p.m., PM Modi will launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign, benefiting over 2.3 lakh beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act.
On March 8, the Prime Minister will visit Navsari, where he will interact with women beneficiaries of the Lakhpati Didi program. This initiative focuses on empowering women through economic support. PM Modi will also participate in a public function to launch various schemes, including G-SAFAL (Gujarat scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income). These programs aim to assist rural women, entrepreneurs, and startups with financial aid and training.
PM Modi will also distribute appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela, as well as benefits to those enrolled in schemes such as PM Awas Yojana – Urban, Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana, and the Sylvan Didi scheme. The Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana seeks to empower women from marginalized communities by supporting small dairy farms, while the Sylvan Didi scheme aims to uplift women street vendors with co-funded carts.
The Prime Minister’s visit aligns with the celebration of International Women’s Day, with several initiatives focusing on women’s empowerment throughout the region.
