New Delhi: Members of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have raised adjournment motions to address urgent issues such as internal security in Manipur and Jammu, underfunded railway projects in Tamil Nadu, stock market losses, and concerns about the delimitation process affecting southern states.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore submitted a motion in the Lok Sabha calling for a discussion on the “internal security crisis in Manipur and Jammu,” specifically focusing on the rising violence and the government’s accountability. He highlighted the increasing violence in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, citing over 716 violent incidents and 271 deaths since then. He also expressed concern about the spread of militancy to the previously peaceful Jammu region, which has seen deadly attacks, especially in Rajouri-Poonch since October 2021. Tagore raised concerns about the government’s failure to restore security, questioning whether the Prime Minister would visit Manipur only during elections.

In another motion in the Lok Sabha, Kanyakumari MP Vijay Kumar (Vijay Vasanth) urged for immediate action on underfunded railway projects in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tewari sought a discussion on the reduction of tariffs by India under external pressure.

In the Rajya Sabha, AAP MP Sanjay Singh submitted a Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267 to discuss the losses faced by retail investors due to the sharp decline in the stock market and the effectiveness of the regulatory framework. Additionally, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva raised a Suspension of Business Notice, calling for a discussion on the concerns regarding the delimitation exercise, especially its impact on India’s federal structure and the fair representation of southern states.
