According to the Meteorological Department, there may be good snowfall in the high areas of Chamba, Kangra and Lahaul Spiti districts today.

There is a forecast of light snowfall in the higher regions of Kullu and Shimla districts today. Light rain and snowfall may occur in the higher regions of the state tomorrow as well. Western disturbance will be more active on March 12. Heavy snowfall may occur in the higher regions on this day.

Alert on 13th and 14th March

There is a possibility of good rain and snowfall in most parts on 13 and 14 March and an alert has been issued regarding heavy snowfall. During this time, tourists along with local people have been advised not to go to high areas.

The weather has been bad since yesterday in most parts of the state including Shimla. The weather will remain bad in the mountains for the next five-six days.

Meanwhile, a warning of avalanche has also been issued in Kullu and Lahaul Spiti today.

57% more rain and snowfall than normal in March

This time, there were drought-like conditions in the state in the months of January and February. This has affected the tourism industry as well as farmers and gardeners. But there is good rain and snowfall in March. From 1 to 9 March, there has been 57 percent more rain than normal.

Kullu has 186% more rain and snowfall than normal

According to the Meteorological Department, the normal rainfall in the state during this period is 32 mm, but this time 50.2 mm of rain has fallen. Kullu has received 186 percent more rain and snowfall than normal and Mandi has received 122 percent more rain and snowfall than normal. Una is the only district in the state where the rainfall in March has been 25 percent less than normal.
