WD brings heavy rain-snowfall in Himachal; yellow alert issued for 4 districts

Shimla: Western Disturbance (WD) has become active in Himachal Pradesh since last night. Its effect on the mountains will remain till March 16. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy snowfall may occur in the higher regions of Shimla, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba districts apart from Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur during the next 4 days.

During this time, there will be good rain in the plains. Thunderstorm warning has also been issued at some places. Today, a yellow alert has been issued for rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts.

On March 14 and 15, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain and snowfall in all districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti. There are chances of light rain and snowfall on March 16 and 17 as well. The weather will become clear across the state on March 18.

There will be snowfall at these tourist places

According to the Meteorological Department, tourist destinations Manali, Solang Valley, Sissu and surrounding areas will also receive light snowfall.

Temperatures rise before rain and snowfall

Before the rain and snowfall in the mountains, there has been a significant rise in temperature. The average maximum temperature of the state has increased by 3 degrees Celsius from normal. The maximum temperature of Kangra has increased to 29.1 degrees Celsius, 6.3 degrees more than normal.

Bilaspur’s mercury reached 31.7 degrees after a jump of 6.4 degrees from normal

The temperature of Shimla increased by 5.4 degrees to 21.0 degrees, Solan’s mercury reached 28.0 degrees after a rise of 5.1 degrees, Bilaspur’s temperature increased by 6.4 degrees compared to normal to 31.7 degrees and Dhola Kuan’s mercury reached 31.8 degrees.
