Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh): Sambhal MP and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Zia ur Rehman Barq called on people from all communities to maintain peace and harmony ahead of the Jumma prayers and Holi celebrations. In his appeal, he urged Hindus to celebrate Holi joyfully while being considerate of mosques and requested Muslims to offer prayers at nearby mosques and avoid areas where Holi celebrations are taking place, if preferred.

Posting his message on Facebook, Rehman emphasized that the holy month of Ramzan Sharif is ongoing and Friday coincides with Holi. He urged Muslim brothers to pray at local mosques and avoid areas where colors are thrown during the festival, while asking Hindu brothers to celebrate with enthusiasm but remain mindful of the mosques and people.

Rehman explained that his appeal was driven by a desire for communal harmony, not out of fear of the police or authorities, and called for mutual respect for the progress of the city, state, and country. He expressed hope for a peaceful day, signing off with “Ameen.”

In preparation for Holi, Sambhal Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary led a flag march with police personnel on Thursday to ensure peace.
