WPL final to held between MI & DC: MI beat Gujarat by 47 runs in the eliminator

The final of the third season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

New Delhi: The final of the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. The match will be held on March 15 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai defeated Gujarat Giants by 47 runs in the eliminator on Thursday.

Hayley Matthews and Natalie Siver Brunt scored fifties for Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium. Both of them played innings of 77-77 runs and there was a partnership of 133 runs between them. Danielle Gibson from Gujarat played an innings of 34 runs after taking 2 wickets.

Gujarat had a bad start

Chasing a big target of 214 runs, Gujarat lost the wicket of Beth Mooney in the very first over. She could score only 6 runs. After her, Harleen Deol and captain Ashley Gardner were out after scoring 8 runs each. The team lost 3 wickets at a score of 43 runs.

Danielle Gibson handled the innings with Phoebe Litchfield. Gibson was out after scoring 34 runs. After her, Litchfield also returned to the pavilion after scoring 31 runs. Kashvi Gautam could score only 4 runs. The team lost 6 wickets at a score of 112 runs.

Final on March 15

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will clash in the WPL final for the second time in 3 years. The final of the first season was also held between the two in 2023, then Mumbai won the title. Delhi lost in the final against Bangalore last year. The team will play its third consecutive final.

Delhi was at the top of the points table

5 teams participate in WPL. After the group stage is over, the team that is at the top of the points table directly reaches the final. There is an eliminator between the second and third ranked teams. The team that wins it qualifies for the final.
