An explosion occurred at the Thakurdwara Temple in the Khandwala area of Amritsar, with the attackers identified as two young men on a motorcycle who threw an object resembling a bomb at the temple. The attack was captured on CCTV footage.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI, is behind such attacks. He confirmed that the two bike riders seen in the CCTV footage are being tracked and will be apprehended soon.
Bhullar emphasized that Pakistani agencies are actively instigating vulnerable youth, particularly from poorer families, to carry out such attacks. He pointed out that past investigations have revealed that ISI is specifically targeting weaker sections of society. The Commissioner warned that those influenced or motivated by money to carry out such activities would face severe consequences.
SAD Condemns the explosion at Thakurdwar temple
Shiromani Akali Dal strongly condemned the incident of blast near Thakur Duar Mandir in Sri Amritsar. In a post on X, Daljit Singh Cheema said, “This is the 13th such blast in the area & is proof of complete collapse of law & order in the state. It is a serious & sensitive incident which has hurt the sentiments of the people. A high level judicial inquiry should be done to identify the culprits & to expose the conspiracy behind this incident It is part of a deep-rooted conspiracy to disturb peace & communal harmony in the state of Punjab.”
He further added, “Punjab is once again slipping into the hands of agencies. On one side all efforts are being done to initiate ‘Khanajangi’ among Sikhs through Central & state agencies & on the other hand efforts are on to disturb peace & communal harmony. Both Union & State governments should take moral responsibilities of these incidents & should desist from interfering into the religious affairs of Sikhs and stop provoking forces who want to illegally take control of Sikh institutions.”
Targeting both center and state govt, he said that such experiments have proved to be dangerous in the past & are again taking the Punjab in wrong direction.
