Dibrugarh/Chandigarh: The process of bringing the associates of Amritpal Singh, the president of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization, to Punjab has begun. Under this, the Punjab Police has reached Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. It has also been learned that the transit remand of two associates of Amritpal Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Bhagwant Singh (Prime Minister Bajeke), has been received by the Punjab Police, after which the Punjab Police reached Dibrugarh Jail and the jail administration has handed over both of them to the Punjab Police. After this, both of them are being brought to Punjab.
NSA Revoke
The Punjab government has decided not to extend the period of the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against seven associates of MP and head of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization Amritpal Singh. All of them are lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam with Amritpal.
This was confirmed by DGP Gaurav Yadav. He said that the process of bringing these seven persons back to Punjab is being started. Amritpal Singh is currently the MP from Khadoor Sahib.
It is worth mentioning that Amritpal Singh and his associates are accused of attacking the Ajnala police station in February 2023 and a case has also been registered in this regard. The seven associates of Amritpal who are being talked about to be taken back include Basant Singh, Bhagwant Singh alias Bajeke, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Sarabjit Singh alias Daljit Singh Kalsi, Gurjinder Singh alias Guri Aujla, Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh and Kulwant Singh.
