Punjab Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha member and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has given a statement different from the party ideology regarding the ‘War against Drugs’ campaign. Rajya Sabha member and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh said that he is not in favor of demolition of house if someone sold drugs.

Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, from Jalandhar, said, “Whatever is built, someone has a roof over his head. So I think demolishing the house is not a good option. Work can be done on something else. If someone sits on government land, then such action is valid.”

Rajya Sabha member from Punjab and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh further said that the effort should be that if someone has built a house, then they should be allowed to live in that house. Demolishing a house is not a good option. No one knows how a person would have built the house.

Let us tell you that, after the high-level meeting of the Punjab government, it was announced that the property earned illegally by the drug smugglers will be demolished by the police and bulldozers will be run on them. A panel of four ministers was formed by the Punjab government regarding the said action.

Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab head, Aman Arora was made the head of the panel. Action has been going on for a long time regarding this. In a month, the houses of more than 60 drug smugglers were demolished and action was taken against them.

A petition was filed in the High Court regarding this

A petition was also filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) regarding the bulldozer action being taken by the Punjab government on drug smugglers. In which it was argued that it is appropriate to confiscate the property of drug smugglers, but demolishing it is not right at any level. This action of the government was also said to be against the orders of the Supreme Court.
