Punjab Weather Update: Scattered rain likely at some places for two days

The weather in Punjab may change once again from today (March 19). According to the Meteorological Department, light rain may occur at some places today and tomorrow (March 20). Along with this, a yellow alert has been issued in view of the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning. This change is happening due to the western disturbance, which is active in the form of cyclonic circulation in and around southeast Iran.

However, the average maximum temperature of the state has increased by 1.1 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, bringing it closer to normal levels. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 30.9 degrees Celsius in Bathinda. At the same time, there is no alert for Chandigarh today.

51% less rainfall in the month of March

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may increase further, and it is likely to increase by three to four degrees Celsius. Today, rain may occur in some parts of Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot and Pathankot districts. However, this month has so far received 51% less rainfall than the average. Usually by this time in March, there would have been 15.4 mm of rain, whereas this time only 7.6 mm of rain has been recorded.
