Raipur: Three people, including a one-year-old girl, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, early on Wednesday morning. The collision occurred when a large container truck and a car crashed head-on on Temri Road near Suarmal village, under the Komakhan police station area. Six others were injured in the accident and were taken to hospitals in Bagbahara, Raipur, and Mahasamund. Among the injured were two four-year-old children, both of whom are in critical condition and have been referred to a hospital in Raipur.
The truck, which was coming from Maharashtra and heading towards Odisha, collided with the car around 1 a.m. The car’s occupants, all family members, were returning from a wedding in Khursipar village. The victims, identified as one-year-old Khushi, 60-year-old Johan Sahu, and the driver, Punam Sahu, who passed away later in the hospital, were all part of the same family. The accident was so intense that the car was completely shattered. The truck driver fled the scene, and a first information report (FIR) has been filed. Police are currently searching for the driver.
In a separate incident, a man named Jatin Netam, aged 30, died after crashing his motorcycle into a truck parked in front of a dhaba on the Dhamtari-Jagdalpur National Highway on Tuesday night. The crash resulted in severe head and chest injuries, and he later succumbed to his wounds. This incident occurred in the Purur police station area.
