The Ludhiana District Court has sentenced a man convicted of raping and murdering a four-year-old girl to death. The court of Judge Amarjit Singh has also imposed a fine of Rs 5.5 lakh on the accused. The court has said in its orders that if the fine is collected, it should be given to the victim’s family.
Accused started begging for his life in court
After the court sentenced him to death, the accused Sonu Singh, who was a resident of village Tasahi in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, started begging for his life. He started complaining before the court. However, the police took him into custody and released him.
The body was killed and hidden in the bed
According to the complaint filed with the police, on December 28, 2023, a five-year-old girl, a resident of New Ram Nagar area of Daba, was playing outside the house. During this, Sonu took her with him to the house of his cousin Ashok Kumar. Sonu, after raping the girl, strangled her to death and hid her body in the bed and fled. When the girl did not reach home even after a long time, the family members started searching.
The case was revealed through CCTV
It was revealed from the CCTV camera that Sonu was going to his cousin’s house with the girl. When the police broke the lock of the house and started the investigation, the mattress of the bed was turned over. When the police opened the bed, the girl’s body was lying there. Later, the police arrested the accused Sonu. After this, the police started their investigation and presented evidence in the court. During this 15-month-long case, the court sentenced Sonu to death after hearing the arguments of both the parties.
