PM Modi pays homage to Shivakumara Swamiji on his 118th birth anniversary

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Shivakumara Swamiji of Tumakuru Siddaganga Mutt on his 118th birth anniversary on Tuesday, describing him as a guiding light for society. Sharing a 1.17-minute video on social media, PM Modi recalled his moments with the revered Swamiji during his visit to the Mutt. He expressed his heartfelt tribute on X, stating, “Heartfelt tributes to His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamigalu on the special occasion of his Jayanti. He is remembered as a beacon of compassion and tireless service, showing how selfless action can transform society. His extraordinary efforts in various fields continue to inspire generations.”

The video, titled “Pujya Swamiji has been a guiding light, illuminating the path for society,” showcased Swamiji’s numerous contributions.

In the video, PM Modi highlighted how Swamiji upheld India’s rich heritage of spirituality, knowledge, and science. He noted, “This sacred land, inspired by Swamiji’s life and teachings, has been guiding society for decades. His continuous contributions to education and the creation of an equitable society are especially significant. With the blessings of Lord Basaveshwara and Swami Vivekananda, the revered Swamiji dedicated his life to nation-building.”

PM Modi reflected on the privilege of having met Swamiji, stating, “He devoted the energy of every cell of his being to the nation. I had the honor of sitting at his feet. Once again, I bow down in reverence to him.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who attended the commemorative event in Tumakuru, also shared his condolences on X, honoring Shivakumara Swamiji as “a true embodiment of compassion and selfless service” who dedicated his life to uplifting the underprivileged through education and social welfare. He emphasized that Swamiji’s legacy of kindness and wisdom continues to inspire generations.

Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi paid respect to Shivakumara Swamiji, referring to him as the “Walking God” and a true Kayaka Yogi. He underscored Swamiji’s commitment to humanitarian efforts through Anna Dasoha (food service), Akshara Dasoha (education), and Jnana Dasoha (knowledge dissemination), celebrating the prestigious awards he received, including the Padma Bhushan and Karnataka Ratna.

State Minister of Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna praised Shivakumara Swamiji’s dedication to providing food, education, and shelter, and expressed heartfelt respect. He quoted Swamiji’s saying, “The water used to cook the food you serve should be the sweat of your hard work, not the tears of others.”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah honored Shivakumara Swamiji for his commitment not only to religious teachings but also to social service, calling him a divine soul revered for his compassion toward the underprivileged. He described Swamiji as a saint, philosopher, and beacon of Trivida Dasoha (service of food, education, and knowledge), offering infinite salutations to him.

BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra referred to Swamiji as a “walking god” and emphasized how his life was an inspiring message of devotion. He encouraged devotees to draw meaning from Swamiji’s achievements on this special occasion.
