Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Municipal Corporation have jointly launched a demolition campaign in the city. In this series, a big campaign was launched against illegal construction and encroachment in Sector-69 on Wednesday evening. The demolition squad demolished more than 50 huts, two restaurants, one office, two car wash places and two car polishing shops here.
Apart from this, green belt land was also vacated from encroachers. Earlier also, more than 60 acres of encroachment was removed from government land here, but later people again encroached.
In view of the protest of the people, the government staff led by GMDA nodal officer RS Bath reached for action along with the police force. During this action, more than 50 police personnel, ATP Mange Ram, Satendra, JE Sumit Bura and Pradeep and Kapil Yadav from Municipal Corporation were present.
The nodal officer said that all these shops and huts were built on government land without permission. The Municipal Corporation had earlier also given notice to remove them. It was necessary to clear the government land for beautification and development.
The GMDA enforcement team is first clearing those places where demolition drives were carried out earlier. In fact, as soon as the team leaves, people occupy the land again, especially the slums that are removed first are again built the very next day.
