Chandigarh: In a significant step towards strengthening education in rural and remote areas, the Punjab Government has launched a unique School Mentorship Program for civil services officers. the initiative was announced by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Friday.

Under this program, officers from the IAS, IPS, Indian Forest Service, and other State civil Services will have the opportunity to adopt a government school for a minimum period of five years. The objective is to provide students-especially those in rural and underserved areas, with access to mentors, motivators, and role models.

Bridging the gap through Mentorship

Speaking about the initiative, Minister Harjot Singh Bains said,”For the first time, a School Mentorship Program has been launched by the Punjab government for civil services officers. The aim is to ensure that children studying in government schools, especially in rural and remote areas, have access to a motivator, a mentor and an inspiration.”

The program is expected to boost student morale, encourage academic excellence, and create a strong bond between communities and administrators.

By involving top government officials directly with schools, the mentorship initiative seeks to enhance the quality of education, improve infrastructure and encourage career guidance for students.

The state government believes this move will play a pivotal role in shaping a more engaged and empowered young generation in Punjab.
