Shimla: Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh witnessed a massive influx of devotees at major temples on the occasion of Ashtami. From early mornings, long queues were seen outside Shaktipeeths like Jawalaji, Naina Devi, Chintapurni, and Mata Bala Sundari temples. Devotees from Punjab, haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh thronged the shrines, chanting praises of the goddess. An even larger crowd is expected on Sunday for Ram Navami due to the holiday.
In the first five days of Chaitra Navratri, around 8.75 lakh devotess cisited various temples across the state. Jwalaji temple saw the highest footfall with over 3.35 lakh devotees, followed by Mata Bala Sundari (2.05 lakh), and Naina Devi (1.58 lakh). Other prominent temples like Chamunda Devi, Brajeshwari, Chintapurni, and Baglamukhi also saw thousands of devotees offering prayers.
According to Police data, nearly 61,000 vehicles, including buses, cars, and two-wheelers, have reached temple premises so far. Tight security arrangements have been made., and the government has deployed additional buses to manage the large crowds and ensure the safety and convenienece of the pilgrims.
