Himachal: AIIMS to research harmful effects of pollution from ACC factory

Especially through state-of-the-art machines, a detailed study of these pollutants will be done so that it can be ascertained what effect they are having on the health of the local population.

Now a study will be conducted on the impact of pollution from the ACC cement factory on health and the environment. To study the ill effects of pollution, the state government has handed over a special research project to the Department of Preventive Medicine of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The government has also released a budget of Rs 33 lakh for the project.

This project will run for one year, in which a team of experts from AIIMS will use advanced scientific techniques to examine the carbon particles and other harmful elements emitted from the factory. Especially through state-of-the-art machines, a detailed study of these pollutants will be done so that it can be ascertained what effect they are having on the health of the local population.

The main objective of the research is to know what kind of diseases people are facing due to pollution. In this, respiratory diseases, lung diseases, heart problems and other possible health effects will be studied.

The team of experts will visit the affected areas and check the health of the residents there. The most important aspect of this research project will be that it will not only include studies but also the treatment of diseases caused by pollution. The AIIMS team will also work on what the level of pollution and its ill effects.
