A New Era of Employment in Punjab: more then 59,000 Government Jobs Granted Purely on Merit—No Recommendations, No Bribes

Chandigarh: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is witnessing a remarkable transformation in the field of employment. So far, the state government has provided more then 59,000 government jobs to the youth. When private sector and contractual positions are included, the total number of job opportunities created has crossed 1.5 lakh.

For the first time, government recruitment in Punjab has been carried out entirely on a meritbased system, free from recommendations or bribery. The Chief Minister emphasized, “In Punjab, neither bribes nor influence will work anymore only talent and hard work will be valued.”

He urged the newly recruited youth to serve the public with a missionary spirit. Between 2022 and 2025, the highest number of recruitments took place in the education, health, police, and power departments. The Education Department filled over 2,000 positions, including 725 special educators.

The Police Department recruited 1,746 constables, while PSPCL appointed 2,500 Assistant Linemen, of which 837 are women. The Health Department also added more than 1,000 doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. The Chief Minister stated that providing opportunities to the youth is the government’s true mission. This employment revolution is leading Punjab into a new era of honesty, self-reliance, and development.
