AAP Leads Punjab 2027 Assembly Polls, Congress Ranks Second in Opinion Poll

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is currently perceived as the frontrunner in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, according to the first tracker of the State Vibe – Assembly Elections 2027 opinion poll released by Vote Vibe.

According to the survey, 36.7 per cent of respondents believe AAP is likely to win the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, while Congress is at 26.8 per cent. The BJP is perceived at 13.6 per cent, followed by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) at 9.6 per cent and Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) at 6.2 per cent.

AAP Leads in Voting Intention, Congress Close Behind

The survey’s voting-intention figures put AAP at 34 per cent, ahead of Congress at 30.2 per cent. BJP is projected at 12.2 per cent and SAD at 11.3 per cent, while Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) is estimated at 6.6 per cent.

Vote Vibe said the figures indicate an AAP lead, although Congress is relatively close behind. It also noted that the fragmented opposition and a five-cornered contest are currently working in AAP’s favour.

Bhagwant Mann Leads CM Preference

The survey also found Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann leading the preference for the next Chief Minister, with 40.1 per cent support.

Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi followed with 20.6 per cent, while SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was at 11.7 per cent. BJP leaders polled individually were lower in the CM-preference question.

The survey identified drug abuse (25.7 per cent) and unemployment/migration (24.3 per cent) as the two biggest issues for Punjab voters, followed by inflation at 13.7 per cent and law and order/women’s safety at 11.7 per cent.

Vote Vibe said the survey was conducted using the CATI methodology with a sample of more than 6,000 respondents across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, with a reported margin of error of +/-3 per cent. The figures are an assessment of voter sentiment at this stage and should not be treated as the final election result.

The survey, conducted by Vote Vibe, covered all three states and was released on August 25. According to the agency, the survey was conducted through the CATI method with a combined sample size of more than 6,000 respondents and a margin of error of plus or minus 3 per cent.

Punjab presents a different picture, with AAP maintaining the lead in the first Vote Vibe tracker. On voting intention, AAP is at 34 per cent, followed by Congress at 30.2 per cent. The BJP is projected at 12.2 per cent, Shiromani Akali Dal at 11.3 per cent and Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) at 6.6 per cent.
