AAP MLA Raman Arora receives death threats, Rs 5 crore demanded

An AAP MLA from Jalandhar, Punjab, has received death threats. He filed a complaint with the Police Commissioner. The MLA claimed he received two threatening calls. The accused demanded ₹5 crore and threatened to shoot him and his family if he didn’t pay.

According to MLA Raman Arora, he received this call four days ago, which he ignored. The accused then made another call, threatening dire consequences if he didn’t pay.

What the MLA said in his police complaint

AAP MLA Raman Arora from Jalandhar’s Central constituency has filed a complaint with Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur. MLA Arora claimed he received two threatening calls. The first call occurred on November 8th, which he ignored.

The next day, he received another call. Both calls were from a foreign number. This time, he picked up the call. The caller demanded ₹5 crore from him and threatened to shoot him and his family if he didn’t pay.

MLA Raman further stated in his complaint that the accused did not reveal his name or mention any gang affiliation. He simply threatened to pay the money.

Recent controversy regarding Raman Arora

MLA Raman Arora was arrested by the Vigilance Department about six months ago. The team recovered approximately ₹5.5 lakh in cash, nearly a kilogram of gold jewelry, and some silver jewelry from his home.

According to a government spokesperson, the MLA is accused of sending fake notices to people on behalf of the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation. Then, after receiving money, the notices were dismissed. An FIR has also been filed in this matter.
