AAP MP Malvinder Kang Meets Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Renews Demand for National Highway Status to Banga–Anandpur Sahib Road

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, on Tuesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and strongly reiterated the long-pending demand to declare the Banga–Garhshankar–Shri Anandpur Sahib–Naina Devi Road as a National Highway.
During the meeting, Kang said the proposed National Highway is not merely a road project but a vital connectivity corridor for lakhs of devotees, daily commuters, farmers, traders and residents of the region. He stressed that granting National Highway status would significantly improve connectivity, boost religious tourism, accelerate economic development and generate new opportunities across the area.
Today, I had a productive meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri @nitin_gadkari Ji, and once again forcefully raised the long-pending demand to declare the Banga–Garhshankar–Shri Anandpur Sahib–Naina Devi Road as a National Highway.
According to Kang, Union Minister Gadkari gave a positive assurance and acknowledged the importance of the long-standing demand. The AAP MP expressed confidence that the proposal would receive favourable consideration.
Kang said he would continue to pursue the issue until the people of the Sri Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency receive the infrastructure they deserve. He added that the upgradation of the road would open new avenues for connectivity, development and prosperity in the region.
The Banga–Garhshankar–Shri Anandpur Sahib–Naina Devi route is considered an important link connecting Punjab with the revered pilgrimage town of Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh and is frequently used by devotees and commuters.
