AAP MP Malvinder Singh writes to PM Modi over Kapil Mishra’s alleged fake video on Sikh Gurus

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging strict action against BJP leader and Delhi minister Kapil Mishra for allegedly circulating a doctored video containing objectionable remarks about Sikh Gurus. Kang claimed that the video has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and highlighted forensic evidence from Punjab and Delhi, stating that the video was “deliberately circulated to falsely accuse Smt. Atishi of making derogatory references to Sikh Gurus.” He emphasised that “the scientific findings leave no room for ambiguity—no such words were ever spoken by her.”

    Allegations of Intent and Timing

Kang accused Kapil Mishra of propagating the falsehood to “provoke outrage and harvest political gains by weaponising Sikh religious sentiment,” describing the act as “not a political misjudgment. It is blasphemy by design.” The MP also pointed out that the incident occurred during the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, highlighting the moral gravity of targeting the Sikh community during such a significant period.

    Appeal for Decisive Action

In his letter, Kang urged Prime Minister Modi to take stern action against Kapil Mishra, including his removal from all positions of authority and a public denunciation of his actions. He underscored the spiritual significance of the Sikh Gurus, writing that their sacrifices were for the protection of Dharma, human dignity, and the universal right to conscience, and called for moral clarity. The controversy over the viral video emerged during the Winter Session of the Delhi Assembly on January 6, with BJP leaders alleging that Atishi made derogatory remarks. Notably, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta stated that the video was not doctored and said a CBI probe will be ordered.
