AAP rally at Jantar Mantar targets BJP, raises workers’ issues

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj on Sunday said the party’s rally at Jantar Mantar was aimed at highlighting the concerns of dismissed contractual workers and exposing what he termed as the BJP’s “vendetta politics”.

This is AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s first public rally since he was discharged by the court in the liquor policy case. Police personnel were deployed around the venue to manage security.

“Rally, not protest”: Bharadwaj

Saurabh Bharadwaj clarified that the event was “a rally, not a protest”.

He said Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with party leaders from Goa and Gujarat, would share the stage.

Bharadwaj alleged that thousands of young people were removed from their jobs under the BJP government and the Lieutenant Governor, including bus marshals, bus conductors, nurses and pharmacy staff from Mohalla Clinics. He said the party would raise its voice for them.

AAP vows to intensify campaign

AAP leader Gopal Rai said the rally marks the beginning of a stronger political campaign.

He claimed that AAP leaders have been proven innocent and that the party will continue what he described as “politics of honesty” while fighting for the rights of Delhi’s people.

Kejriwal is also expected to address allegations of false cases and conspiracies filed against AAP leaders.

BJP leaders criticise rally

The rally drew criticism from BJP leaders and allies. In Patna, Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said legal proceedings related to AAP leaders are still pending before the High Court and cautioned against premature celebrations.

In Ballia, Uttar Pradesh MLC Danish Azad Ansari accused Kejriwal of trying to divert public attention, alleging that the rally was a political stunt.

The event saw participation from party workers and supporters from Delhi and neighbouring states, with Kejriwal expected to outline AAP’s political roadmap.
