AAP Sarpanch shot at in Batala, referred to Amritsar in critical condition

A major incident has been reported from the Batala region of Punjab, where Gurvinder Singh, the incumbent Sarpanch of Kadian Rajputan village and the District President of the Aam Aadmi Party’s youth wing, was subjected to a life-threatening attack by unidentified assailants. The attackers opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured.

The incident reportedly took place in the late evening. Following the attack, Gurvinder Singh was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Batala with the help of locals. After administering first aid, doctors referred him to a private hospital in Amritsar due to his critical condition.

Meanwhile, a post claiming responsibility for the attack by a gangster is circulating on social media. However, the police administration has clarified that there is no official confirmation regarding the viral post yet. An investigation into the entire matter is currently underway.

According to his family, Gurvinder Singh is the sitting Sarpanch of his village and plays an active political role at the district level within the Aam Aadmi Party’s youth wing. The attack created an atmosphere of panic in the area, leaving residents visibly frightened.

DSP (Fatehgarh Churian) Lalit Kumar stated that a police team rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving information about the incident. He added that the injured Sarpanch has been referred to Amritsar for advanced medical care and his condition is being closely monitored.

Given the gravity of the situation, the police have initiated an investigation covering various angles and are making efforts to identify the attackers. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being analyzed, and statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded.
