“Lets Both Show our degrees”: Abhijeet Dipke Challenges PM Modi to show degrees amid Boston University Row

New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make his educational qualifications public, offering to show his own degree from the United States if the Prime Minister does the same.

In a post on X, Dipke responded to the recent controversy surrounding questions about his educational credentials at Boston University and called for both him and the Prime Minister to disclose their degrees.

“People are really running out of patience waiting to see my degree. Makes me wonder how they’ve managed for 12 years without seeing the Prime Minister’s,” the CJP leader said in a post on X.

He later directly challenged Modi, saying, “let’s both show our degrees and put an end to this.”

Video Shared Amid Education Row

Earlier, Dipke had shared a video compilation that purportedly showed an afterparty posted by an account named “BUComGrad”. In one portion of the video, Dipke can be seen seated at a table and interacting with people.

The controversy intensified following a recent podcast hosted by Prakhar Gupta featuring activist Sonam Wangchuk, during which questions were raised about Dipke’s education at Boston University.

Dipke’s latest statement marks the second time he has turned the controversy surrounding his degree into a challenge directed at Prime Minister Modi.

Questions Over Modi’s Degree Also Resurface

Questions regarding Modi’s educational qualifications have been raised by opposition leaders on several occasions. The BJP, however, has maintained that the Prime Minister’s degree has previously been made public and that the issue has already been settled.

In another post on X, Dipke questioned why the Delhi High Court had refused to disclose the Prime Minister’s degree.

“Why did the Delhi high court refuse to disclose the PM’s degree? From what I’ve learned from the IT Cell over the last few days, anyone who doesn’t show their degree is apparently a fraud and a liar.”

Claims Over Dipke’s Boston University Credentials

A purported clip from the podcast has also circulated on social media. In it, Gupta claimed that one of his close friends had studied at Boston University and had also participated in protests associated with the CJP. Gupta did not identify the person but said the individual works in media and hosts podcasts.

“One of my best friends went to Boston University. Boston University is also Abhijeet’s college,” Gupta said.

Gupta further claimed that his friend later examined Dipke’s educational credentials and allegedly found no record of him graduating from Boston University.

“One month later, he has gone down the rabbit hole of checking Abhijeet’s educational credentials and found that there is no record of him graduating from Boston University,” the podcaster claimed.

Earlier Questions Over Funding of Education

Questions about how Dipke financed his education in the US had also emerged earlier. Surat-based RTI activist Amit Tiwari had sought an inquiry into the finances of Dipke’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired Maharashtra government employee.

Tiwari questioned how Dipke could afford education in the US while his father was working as a junior engineer with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

“I have complained to the Maharashtra Government that Bhagwanrao Dipke was a Junior Engineer at MIDC. So, if he received a salary of ₹60,000-65,000, how was he able to afford the education of his children in the US?” he told news agency ANI.

Dipke rejected the allegations in an interview with journalist Barkha Dutt, stating that his education at Boston University was financed through a scholarship and an education loan.

“My education was funded by a scholarship provided by Boston University. And I had taken some education loan which I have to pay back now,” Dipke told Dutt.

He also showed his scholarship letter from the US-based university during the interview.

The CJP has separately defended Dipke against questions over his education. Party spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur also responded to the controversy on X, questioning the scrutiny of a private individual’s education expenses and referring to the PM CARES Fund.
