New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Thursday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that the police action against students during the Parliament march on July 20 was carried out on his instructions.

Speaking to reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, Dipke said that the force used against protesting students was not possible without top-level approval.
He said, “The way the students were attacked and their blood was shed could not have happened without Amit Shah’s orders.”
Supporting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s demand, Dipke said that he also believes Amit Shah should resign from his post.
Foreign funding allegations dismissed, new allegations leveled against Delhi Police
Dipke categorically rejected allegations of foreign funding to the CJP. He stated that even if such a thing were possible under the Home Ministry’s supervision, it would be a failure of the ministry itself.
He accused the Delhi Police of systematically creating an atmosphere to portray the protest as violent.
Dipke claimed that an attempt was made to create an atmosphere of violence by bringing a truck full of stones and a damaged vehicle to the protest site at Jantar Mantar to justify police action.
He also alleged that BJP supporters pelted stones and blamed the students for the incident.
Allegations of threats against the BJP
Abhijeet Dipke alleged that BJP leaders threatened him and his family to join the party.
He claimed that his parents were also pressured and threatened with dire consequences if he did not join the party.
Dipke said that all this was an attempt to suppress his voice and weaken the movement.
BJP calls allegations baseless
The BJP rejected all of Dipke’s allegations, saying he was politicizing the student movement.
BJP leader Keshav Upadhyay said that the central government has already taken steps, including introducing a law against paper leaks and accepting the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
He said that if Dipke agrees with Rahul Gandhi’s politics, he should join the Congress.
The BJP also categorically denied allegations of threats to Dipke and his family.
Background
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned last week following nationwide student protests over alleged irregularities in various competitive examinations, including the NEET-UG. This is considered one of the rare instances in recent years when a Union minister resigned following a widespread public movement.
