Absconding 18-Year-Old Criminal Made Videos with IPS Officer, Police Probe Social Media Posts

The Jaipur West police have arrested gangster Rakesh Kumar Jangid (48), who was absconding for 18 years, from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. He was trying to flee to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on June 25. The police had placed a reward of Rs 10,000 on him.

Surprisingly, the police, who is absconding for 18 years, was making a video sitting with IPS officer Kishan Sahay about 6 months ago. He was also posting that video on social media. The same accused had also made a video with the then Mansarovar police station officer Lakhan Singh about 1 year ago.

He used to try to establish his influence by making videos with police officers on social media.

In the case, DCP West Prashant Kiran said that a special operation is being conducted to arrest the absconding miscreants. Acting on technical evidence and intelligence information, the Sadar police station arrested the accused from Delhi Airport. The accused was absconding in four cases registered in 2008-09. He was included in the top 10 wanted criminals of Sadar police station area.

Millions of rupees cheated in the name of sending abroad

DCP West Prashant Kiran said that the accused, along with his accomplices, duped many people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of getting jobs abroad. The victims were neither sent abroad nor were their money returned. Based on the complaints, four cases were registered against him at the Sadar police station in 2008 and 2009.

Passport made with a fake address

To avoid arrest, the accused left his ancestral residence and started living in Jaipur by constantly changing his location. He had hidden his criminal record and got a passport from another address. The UAE was preparing to flee. The police foiled his plan and arrested him from the Delhi airport.

Serious sections are registered in four cases.

The accused has four cases registered against him at Sadar police station under various sections including cheating, criminal mischief of trust, forgery, preparation of forged documents, use of forged documents and criminal conspiracy. In all the cases, the police had already presented challans in the court, while the accused was continuously absconding.

He used to make videos with police officers.

According to sources, the investigation has revealed that the accused Rakesh Kumar used to meet Jangid police officials and make videos with them. He used to share them on his social media account. Through these videos, he tried to make his identity and influence among the people.

On the one hand, the police are saying that the accused is absconding for 18 years. On the other hand, a 6-month-old video of the accused has also surfaced. In this video, the accused is making a video in the office of IPS officer Kishan Sahay. Presenting them with a bouquet. He is seen interacting with them on social issues. In the video, he asks questions on issues like serving liquor on the day of Ekadashi and molestation of women. On which the officers are seen giving messages about law and order, cyber-crime and the responsibility of the youth. At the end of the video, the accused himself is seen appealing to people to use social media properly and follow the law.

The video was made with the then Mansarovar police station officer.

In another video, the accused meets the then Mansarovar police station officer Lakhan Singh at his office and appreciates the police action and talks about various social and crime related issues. At the end of the video, he is seen appealing to people to inform the police and cooperate against anti-social activities.
