Jalandhar: An ammonia gas leak occurred at an ice factory Domoria bridge near railway station in Jalandhar, Punjab, causing a commotion. Sadly, one person trapped inside the factory died. Another individual was rescued. Two migrants passing by the factory fainted but have since recovered.
The police have closed the road, diverting traffic over the Domoria bridge. After approximately two hours of effort, the fire brigade managed to stop the gas leakage. Unfortunately, one of the migrants had already passed away due to the exposure and was found with severe burns.
The police and fire brigade promptly responded to the incident. The roads will reopen once the gas dissipates. Ambulances and doctors provided medical treatment to those affected at the scene, and everyone is now out of danger.
The fire brigade personnel reported that there were 12 walls in the upper part of the factory, and some walls were below. It took about two and a half hours to close these walls. A 70-year-old man was trapped inside the factory, but he was rescued by the fire brigade.
One person managed to escape from inside the factory on their own. There was a leaking pipe, and the reason for the leakage is currently unclear. Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma of Jalandhar City Police also arrived at the spot with his team to investigate.
