Fireworks accident during temple festival: 150 injured, 8 critical in Kasargod

A blast occurred during fireworks at Anjutambalam Veerarkavu temple in Kasargod, Kerala on Monday night at around 12:30. More than 150 people were injured in this. Kasargod police said that the condition of 8 people is critical, who have been admitted to the hospital.

The reason for the blast is not known yet. According to media reports, 1500 people had gathered in the temple for the annual Kaliyattam festival. Fireworks were being done here, the spark from which reached the storage area of ​​​​firecrackers, where the blast occurred.

Firecrackers worth 25 thousand rupees were kept in this storage area. Police have taken 2 members of the temple committee into custody regarding the accident and are being questioned. It is also reported that the temple committee had not even taken a license for burning firecrackers and fireworks.
