Amritsar: An accident took the lives of two members of a family in Daburji village of Amritsar late on Tuesday evening. The deceased were traveling on Activa. When the tanker coming from behind hit them. People caught the driver and handed him over to the police. People attributed that the accident caused by the under-construction bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, a father and his daughter were traveling on an Activa when they reached Gurdwara Sahib on Daburji Highway a tanker coming from behind hit them. Both of them fell and the tanker ran over them.
Local people thrashed driver
After the accident, angry people caught the driver on the spot and thrashed him. police reached the spot and took him into custody. Rana Palwinder Singh, a resident of Daburji village, said that the work on the bridge under construction on the highway has been stopped for the last six-seven days, due to which there is traffic jam in the service lane.
Accidents keep happening due to traffic jam but the administration is in deep sleep. He said that the ambulance did not come for two hours due to which there was a delay in taking him to the hospital.
