Ludhiana : A speedy truck hit and rammed a bike ridden couple Late evening near Sahnewal in Ludhiana on the highway. The woman died on the spot while her husband got minor injuries. The woman was returning to her home in Jalandhar with her husband after paying obeisance at Patiala Kali Mata Mandir.
The accident was so severe that the truck dragged the woman for a long distance and crushed her badly. The deceased woman has been identified as Meenakshi and her injured husband Visal resident of Sant Nagar near Workshop Chowk Jalandhar. Sahnewal Police Station team took the body of the woman in its custody and kept it in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital at night. Where the post-mortem of the body will be done on Sunday and the body will be handed over to the family members.
Injured Vishal Kumar said that, he had gone to Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala with his wife Meenakshi on Saturday morning to offer prayers. From where he was returning home late in the evening. On the way, near Sahnewal, a speedy truck hit his bike near Mahindra car showroom. Bike lost its balance, he fell on the roadside with the bike and his wife was crushed under the rear tyres of the truck. The accused truck driver has fled from the spot.
