These people were going to take bath in the Ganga at Kadarganj Ghat in Kasganj in a tractor-trolley on Maghi Purnima, when the accident happened near Gadhai village on Riavganj Patiali road.

Rescue work continues to save people

So far 24 people have died after a tractor-trolley overturned in a pond here. There were 54 people in the trolley. At present, rescue is being done at the spot with a bulldozer. The death toll may increase. It is being told that all the people are residents of Jaithra of Etah.

Hearing the sound of screaming, people nearby reached there. Within no time a large number of people gathered. DM has confirmed the death of 15 people so far.

Injured People And Dead Bodies Rushed to Hospital

At the same time, there is silence in Jaithra village after the death of 24 people. The people of the village have reached their homes where someone has died. Sounds of crying are heard in the happy village.

Pond 20 feet deeper than road
The place where the accident took place on Kasganj-Farrukhabad highway is 2 kilometers away from Daryaganj. Whereas the distance of the incident from Kasganj district headquarters is 48 kilometers. The depth of the pond is 20 feet from the highway, in which it is filled with 9 to 10 feet water.

At the spot where the tractor-trolley fell into the pond, slippers were seen floating on the water’s edge. Many women’s chunris and clothes were also seen being lowered into the water. Someone’s muffler was found on the mud, while someone’s shoes were found in the middle of the pond.

It is being told that the speeding tractor-trolley fell into the pond at the very edge of the culvert. If the tractor-trolley had hit the culvert, it would have been saved from falling into the pond. The road has neither side nor railing. That means if someone falls from the road, he will go straight into a 20 feet deep pond.
