Tragic road accident in Sonipat: Canter hits parked pickup vehicle; two dead, five injured

Sonipat: A teenager and a young man were killed, and five others were injured when their pickup collided with a canter between the villages of Paldi Kalan and Khevda on National Highway 334B in Sonipat.

They were carrying vegetables from the village to Azadpur Mandi in Delhi. Police have taken the bodies into custody and launched an investigation. Arif, a resident of Dojha village in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, said he was carrying vegetables from the village to Azadpur Mandi in Delhi.

Farmers and laborers were riding in the pickup, driven by Lalit. When their vehicle reached the village between Paldi Kalan and Khevda villages, it suddenly developed a puncture. Lalit went to get the tire repaired. Everyone else was inside. At midnight, a canter came from behind at high speed and hit their vehicle.

The impact was so severe that Saqib (18) and Akshay (16) of Dojha village died on the spot. Rozuddin, Kashik, Arun, Asif, and Arif, who were also in the pickup, were seriously injured.

Police arrived after receiving information about the incident and admitted the injured to the Civil Hospital, from where they were referred to PGI, Rohtak. A police team is investigating the case. Postmortems on the bodies will be conducted at the Civil Hospital.
