Additional DC of Sri Muktsar Sahib arrested in corruption case, allegations of compensation scam

As part of the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Sri Muktsar Sahib Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Surinder Dhillon (ADC Sri Muktsar Sahib).

It is worth mentioning that this accused has been arrested on charges of committing a scam in the compensation issued for land acquired for the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor project in Patiala district. Haryana News

Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said here today that the then District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) of Patiala, Surinder Dhillon, was named in FIR No. 12 registered on 26.05.2022.

He has been booked under sections 406, 420, 409, 465, 467, and 120-B of the IPC as well as PC. A case has been registered under Sections 13(1)(a) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended by the (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The charges relate to the embezzlement of a compensation amount of Rs 285 crore released in respect of 1,103 acres of land acquired in villages Akari, Sehra, Sehri, Takhtumajra, and Pabra of the Shambhu block of Patiala district for the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor project and failure to discharge duties properly.
