Afghanistan jolted by 5 major earthquakes overnight, tremors felt in Delhi-NCR

Afghanistan was rocked by earthquakes from late Monday night to early morning, in which 9 people have been reported dead so far.

The ground kept shaking throughout the night in this neighboring country of India.

5 earthquakes came one after the other. The first earthquake of 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale was so strong that the tremors were felt even in Delhi NCR.

The earthquake tremors that came late at night put people in panic. The first earthquake in Afghanistan came at 12:47 am.

The earth shook so strongly that the tremors were felt even in Delhi-NCR. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

After this, tremors came in Afghanistan from 5 am to 5:15 am. There are reports of loss of life and property due to this earthquake in Afghanistan.

According to news agency Reuters, many buildings have been damaged in Afghanistan.

Nine people have died and 25 have been injured in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces. The number of deaths is expected to increase.

Where did the earthquake strike?

According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the southeastern region of Afghanistan.

The German agency said that the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

At the same time, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said that the earthquake struck at a depth of about 35 kilometers.
