New Delhi: A full-scale aircraft crash mock exercise named ‘Agni Chakra’ was conducted at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi to evaluate emergency response systems and crisis management preparedness. The exercise was carried out under the coordination of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) along with multiple emergency and aviation agencies.

Multi-Agency Emergency Response Tested
According to CISF officials, the mock drill simulated an aircraft crash scenario at the airport premises to assess how different agencies respond during a major aviation emergency. Teams from the CISF, Delhi Fire Services, medical units, airport authorities, disaster management personnel and other emergency responders participated in the operation.
The exercise focused on rescue operations, evacuation procedures, fire control measures and coordination between agencies during high-pressure situations.
Aim was to strengthen crisis management
Officials stated that the objective of the exercise was to ensure preparedness for real-life emergencies and improve coordination among all departments involved in airport safety and disaster response.
Emergency teams conducted rapid rescue simulations, casualty evacuation drills and communication checks to evaluate response efficiency and identify areas requiring improvement.
CISF Highlights Importance of Preparedness
The CISF said such mock exercises are essential for maintaining aviation safety standards and ensuring that emergency protocols remain updated and effective. Authorities added that regular drills help agencies stay prepared to handle unforeseen incidents at one of the country’s busiest airports.
The operation was completed successfully without disruption to normal airport activities, and officials described the coordination among participating agencies as effective and well-organized.
