Two Bambiha Gang associates arrested with illegal arms in Punjab

Barnala: In a major breakthrough in the crackdown against organised crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ​​Punjab, in a joint operation with Barnala Police, arrested two active associates of the Bambiha gang involved in illegal arms smuggling.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sandeep Singh and Shekhar. According to the officials, the duo were allegedly working under the directions of foreign handlers and were planning to distribute illegal arms to the foot soldiers of the Bambiha gang to carry out sensational crimes in the state.

Six pistols and live ammunition were recovered

During the operation, the police recovered a cache of illegal weapons, including:

•One PX5 pistol

•Four .32 bore pistols

•One .30 bore pistol

•A total of 19 live cartridges

These weapons were allegedly intended for gang operatives who were being mobilised to carry out high-profile criminal activities in Punjab.

Conspiracy to commit major crimes foiled

Initial investigation has revealed that the accused were acting on the instructions of handlers based abroad. These weapons were to be used in targeted attacks and other criminal activities as part of the gang’s efforts to spread fear and re-establish dominance in the region.

Search underway for entire network

Officials confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway to dismantle the entire supply chain of illegal weapons, including identifying both upstream and downstream links involved in the procurement, distribution and systematic execution of crimes.
