New Delhi: Air India Express’s Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam flight was cancelled after a technical snag was detected before takeoff, the airline said on Friday.
Air India Express said in a statement that in view of passenger safety, the aircraft was brought back to the ramp after a technical snag was identified during pre-departure checks.
Following this, the decision was taken to cancel the flight as a precautionary measure
“In the interest of safety, the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam flight was brought back to the ramp before takeoff. The flight was cancelled after a technical snag was detected,” an Air India Express spokesperson said.
Hotel accommodation, refunds, and rescheduling available to passengers
The airline stated that affected passengers were immediately provided with hotel accommodation and refreshments.
“Passengers were also offered the option of a full refund or rescheduling at no additional cost,” a spokesperson said.
Air India Express apologized for the inconvenience and stated that passenger safety remains its top priority.
Other recent incidents and weather warnings
Earlier this week, in another incident, an Air India Express flight from Jeddah to Kozhikode was diverted to Kochi. A foreign object on the runway at Jeddah Airport was suspected of causing tire damage.
The plane landed safely in Kochi and precautionary emergency procedures were implemented. All passengers were safely transported to the terminal and later transported to Kozhikode by road.
Meanwhile, the airline has issued an advisory for passengers regarding potential flight disruptions due to weather in recent weeks. Passengers affected by fog at some airports in North India have been offered a one-time free flight change or a full refund.
