Guwahati, Feb 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has indicated that an air show could take place in Upper Assam during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on February 14. The event is expected to showcase the capabilities of the Indian Air Force and mark the significance of the PM’s itinerary in the region.

According to the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Assam on February 14, with multiple high‑profile events planned across the state. The air show segment is expected to include performances by Rafale and Sukhoi fighter jets, which could demonstrate aerial maneuvers and landing capabilities at Moran’s highway‑based emergency airstrip.

Highway Airstrip and Strategic Significance

The Moran section of National Highway 127 has been developed into a 4.2 km emergency airstrip, designed to support aircraft operations in strategic situations such as defence mobilizations or disaster relief.
