Akal Takht Rejects Desecration Law; Jathedar Gurgaj Questions Lack of Panth Approval

Akal Takht does not approve of the new desecration law. In this regard, the Assembly Speaker has been summoned on May 8. The Speaker will be asked how the law was made without the permission of the Panth. This decision was made in an important Panthic meeting held today in Amritsar under the chairmanship of Giani Kuldeep Singh Gardgej, the acting Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib.

This law does not clearly define the responsibilities of the Gurdwara management and the Granthi Singhs. He said that this matter is directly related to the Panth, so its decisions should be taken at the Panthic level, not just by the government.

This meeting was held in Bhai Gurdas Hall, in which Sikh organizations, scholars, and legal experts participated. The Jathedar himself arrived at the meeting venue and had detailed discussions on various issues.

Shri Guru Granth Sahib is the Guru of all humanity

While speaking to the media, Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Garghaj said that Shri Guru Granth Sahib is not only the guru of the Sikh community but also of the entire humanity. He said that it is the duty of every Sikh to hold respect for the Guru Sahib in their heart and to adopt his teachings in life. He also said that connecting with and understanding the Guru Bani is the most important means of attaining spiritual power.

The issue of releasing Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences was raised

In addition, special discussion was held on the case of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. It was mentioned that his petition has been pending for a long time and no final decision has been taken on it so far. The issue of those Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences but have not yet been released was also considered.

The Jathedar said that it is necessary to reach the root of desecration cases and that governments should bring the truth in front of the public. In the meeting, all parties had in-depth discussions, and it was decided to take a decision on further action later.
